Coconut Oil and Baby Acne update

The baby acne is starting to dry up for sure on her forehead but worsening on her chin and scalp. I'm just grateful it's getting better. Even though it doesn't bother her, I still can't help but feel worried. Curse of the new parent I suppose?

We have been using the coconut oil about 1-2 times a day, mainly on her forehead as we don't want to run oil all over her hair. Not sure if it's the oil or time I can thank for the acne finally starting to heal up, but whatever...it's working!

Harper Says...My first trip to Grandma and Grandpa's

Our first trip to Grandma abd Grandpa's was yesterday! Rob and I had to attend a memorial service for a family friend of his so it was the perfect opportunity for Harper to spend a little time alone with the grandparents. I just didn't feel good about bringing my 3 1/2 week old to a funeral home.

She did great and the grandparents couldn't have been happier to watch her for a couple hours!

I see a date night in our future ❤️

Harper Says...Coconut Oil-the next day

Well she smells like a piña colada, that's for sure.

It's definitely less red. I don't know if it's getting better-or I just realllllllly want to see that it's getting better.

The picture on the left is the "before" and the "after" is on the right. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that it didn't work overnight but I had hoped! I'm gonna apply it once in the am and once before bed for another couple days to see if it makes any real difference.

Still the cutest! 😊

Harper Says...I have some wicked baby acne

It's only worrying me a teeeeeeeny bit. My poor baby. Pediatrician said that if she doesn't have a fever and it's not bothering her (why would it? She barely knows where her hands are) then it's nothing to worry about and it should clear up within a few weeks.

Dad, however, is a little bit more bothered by it. Even though he spoke to the doctor himself, it's still worrying him. After doing some research on good old Dr. Google, we found that organic coconut oil has been known to clear up baby acne almost overnight. So today we are on a mission to find some and see what it does. I've heard of people using coconut oil for all kinds of things (skin care, cooking, etc.), so either way I think it'll be of good use in our home. Hoping this will work to calm dad's nerves and clear up Harper's face. Although, we still think she's the most gorgeous girl ever 😊

Can't wait to update with results!

Harper Says...I'm learning to smile!

Do you see it? It's a looks that doesn't scream "feed me!", "change me!", "hold me!"

Three weeks and two days old and I swear I'm seeing my baby girl smile! Almost as if over night she even more aware of me and is reacting to my gestures. Cue the mommy tears. She's growing up too fast.

Harper Says...Grandma babysat me today!

And mama did not like leaving her!! It was only for a quick meeting but it still was tough. It felt like a limb was missing-a whole part of me. It made my heart hurt.

Coming home was the sweetest feeling ever, though. I told Harper, you are never allowed to leave me. Cue the therapy bills!

Harper Says...I lost my umbilical cord stump today!

And it scared the crap out of mom!

Not really sure what I was expecting, but an oozing, gooey belly button was not it. Fear not, a quick call to the pediatrician (and let's face it, some searches on Dr. Google) let everyone know that all was ok and all was normal.

My baby has had her first right of passage and I don't like the fact that she is growing up one little bit.

(I'll save the really graphic pictures to scare kiddies at Halloween)

Harper Says...I love my new bow!

Baby Harper doesn't know it yet, but she is a fashionista in the making. First up, statement bows! The trend hasn't yet caught  on in New York, Paris, or Milan, but we always knew she was ahead of the curve.

Viva las Bows! 🎀

Harper Says...Happy Friday!

It's the freakin weekend baby and I'm gonna have me some fun!

Actually, I'm gonna have me some sleep! Daddy is home and on night duty so mama is going to take a nap. Never have words so beautiful been typed. Nap. Nap. Nap. Glorious uninterrupted sleep.

Cheers, baby!

I miss you already, Aunt Sarah! ❤️
